Hi,

(I'm on Mac OS 15.2 and vers 14 for the app now.)

For the past two updates but not before that, I have gotten the above error message when I try to replace the newly installed update over the old app. I have this app in a folder within the applications folder so when it gets installed, I drag the updated app into that folder and get this error message. To fix it, I put the old app into a new folder within the applications folder, move the new version into my sync folder and then delete the old version. Other solutions like Google's AI suggestion: Right-click on the FreeFileSync installer and select "Run as administrator" to grant necessary permission, right-clicking did nothing, I didn't get the option to run as admin... The Get Infos showed each version of the app was not locked, etc...

Is this a problem with the latest OS, perhaps one or two earlier versions of it or is it problem with the installer? Earlier updates all worked very nicely.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm in the same situation, also with a MacOs 15.2.
I'm a little bit hesitant to go through a full clean install as I don't want to break my workflows...

I'm waiting until next week before doing the big jump, maybe someone in the community found a solution

Have a great day

This is almost certainly a bug in macOS 15. I'm not able to reproduce this on macOS 12. Most likely it somehow has to do with the "owner" of the app folder which is "root", because the app was installed.

Reproduce:
1. Install FreeFileSync for "all users" into "/Applications"
2. copy FreeFileSync.app to some other folder and try to move back => error:
