differentiating notifications from multiple computers

I've fairly recently purchased the donation edition - one of the reasons for doing so was to enable email notifications.

What I've discovered is that FFS has no settings for sending mail - it just routes all email through an SMTP server somewhere else. There is no way to specify the sender's address. Consequently, all email notifications from all machines show no indication of what machine they are from.

Is there a way around this? Ideally, FFS would allow setting both the FROM: address and a header for the SUBJECT: line.
