Hi
I am new to FreeFileSync, please bear with me.
I have the program installed on 2 pc's and the backup is on an external hard drive with folders back-1 and back-2, one for each pc.
When the backup runs it works perfectly but it doesn't provide a recycle bin for any of the backups.
Any help would be appreciated.

Likely your external HD does not have/provide a recycle bin.
So, any deletions or overwrites there will be permanent.
However, instead of using the Recycle bin as you Delete and Overwrite method, you can use Versioning.
This allows you to keep/retain as many previous versions of files as you select, for as long as you select, and in an arbitrary location you select. This is for all files that get deleted or overwritten by your sync.
