Help for Error code 0x1e3

Hi everyone, sometimes I get this error:
Warning: Cannot set directory locks for the following folders:
Cannot write file "S:\BACKUP\sync.ffs_lock".
Error code 0x1e3: Request failed due to a fatal hardware error on the device.
[CreateFile]

does anyone have a solution?

Usually bad USB connection for an external drive or the drive is failing

strange that it only does this on the sync.ffs_lock file

Is your S-drive perhaps write protected via a hardware switch?
E.g. some thumb-drives have such a switch.
If such switch is activated, a write attempt to that drive might manifest itself as a hardware error.
