Errors When Mirroring From PC to Removable Drive

Long story short: I work with a lot of pictures (a lot) and I tend to have them stored in one directory tree on my PC, and once a week or so I use this program to back them up to a removable drive on my laptop to keep its backup up-to-date, so I can work on my laptop as well with as close to the same information for each file as I can get (names, metadata, etc)

However, recently I've started to notice a number of seemingly random pictures are, after doing a full scan and mirror from Source to Destination, coming out corrupted. The thumbnail is the generic Windows default icon, there is no metadata in the file in the Destination folder at all, and if I try to open it I get messages saying things ( in Windows Photo Viewer) like "It looks like we don't support this format" (it's JPG) or "Could not open this file because it seems to be corrupted". It's still normal at the source directory, though.

The only way I've found to fix it so far is to delete the problem files in the Destination directory and re-mirror, but that doesn't work very well. I've had to do it three times tonight, in a row, because new problem files seem to pop up with each mirroring. Last month I fixed them all manually, and when I checked today a bunch of problem files had popped up in the Destination directory folders that I had combed through and fixed up last time.

I can only assume the files are either being corrupted by the drive itself, or something with FFS is causing random files to be affected in some way that renders Windows unable to properly read them. I'm not sure what.

Defintely not FFS. Bad external drive or connection. Could be bad RAM, but very unlikely if the computer is functioning normally otherwise.
