Greetings, first time user of this software, used to use another brand that is now out of business. I have three PCs on my network, an old one running Windows 10, a 5 year old laptop recently updated from 10 to 11, and a new book running 11. Both 11s are up to date. I have the network settings as recommended by Microsoft - private network, password sharing off, etc.
I can see the two 11 machines in FFS and can access the 10 machine from both 11 machines, but neither machine can access the other 11 machine in FFS. Windows Firewalls are off.
Running Trend Micro security, I turned off the firewall booster.
Error message when I click on the other 11 PC is :
"Windows cannot access \\[pc].
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network."
Can see other PC on network but cant access it

Are you running FFS "as Administrator"?
If so, there could be difference due to that.
Can you successfully browse \\[pc] in Windows Explorer?

Hi,
Not sure what problems you're having with Windows file sharing but I use Microsoft's implementation of SFTP to backup my Windows computers and it works great.
In Windows if you go into settings and optional software you can load open SSH server and then use SFTP to access your home folder from there.
On Windows 11:
Go to Settings > System > Optional features and click on View features.
Locate “OpenSSH server” feature, select it, click Next, and then click Add.
On Windows 10 (version 1803 and newer):
Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Optional features and click on Add a feature.
Locate “OpenSSH server” feature, expand it, and select Install.

Hi,
I have used Core mini-sftp-server a lot to connect and sync network PCs from within FFS.
In just a few clicks the mini sftp server is up and running on one of your network PCs. Then you can easily connect and sync from every other network PC by referring to the ip adress of the PC that runs the sftp server (cloud button in main screen of FFS).

Hi,
Thanks for the update. I will check out your softwre and possibly add it to my software utility toolbox.
Coming from Linux I like the built in software.
Rather than being a seperate app its part of Windows and is always running. And it uses the MS authentication.
