When I installed Linux Mint 17.1 yesterday, I noticed that the newest FFS that I could get through the PPA is 6.9, where the download site has a tar.gz with version 6.12. On checking my old Linux Mint 17 setup, I noticed that I had 6.9 on that too.
I followed the instruction on the Lauchpad page at https://launchpad.net/freefilesync, and because the installation itself worked, I assume that the instructions are OK.
Version 6.12 from tar.gz works well with a shortcut on the desktop, so I see no reason to hold the Ubuntu 14.nn or Mint 17(.1) version back.
Ubuntu PPA stuck at 6.9
