This probably won't go through, but I had tried to write a helpful post in here to help improve FFS. Now I'm going to find other software. This is incredibly inappropriate. I hit "Submit" and was greeted only with this in bold red:

Listen, spammer, this forum is actively moderated: If you think your crap will go unnoticed you must be delusional.

PS: The server just wasted 30 seconds of your life to give you time to rethink your life choices. You're welcome.

[Not a spammer? Sorry, and please send your message to improve the algorithm to: admin [at] freefilesync.org]

No, I wasted my own time composing a post on here, and learning this software. I will find another solution.

I can't believe I donated several times to this guy.

I know that Zenju at least controls the configuration of this forum software. I don't know whether or not he wrote that text. But it is totally obnoxious.

There are all sorts of false positives nowadays especially when users are at home using internet providers that dynamically allocate IPs. And spam filters are also notoriously prone to errors.

So the arrogance of assuming that the algorithm is right, calling me a spammer posting "crap" who is "delusional", and other rude, obnoxious text, is just completely inappropriate, and goes against what I had believed was the friendly spirit of this project. So it made me reevaluate my stance toward this project. I wish the author luck, but I doubt that I will donate to him again.

Perhaps needless to say, nobody appears to be monitoring "admin [at] freefilesync.org".

In that email, I urged the author to try civility next time if he has an eye on retaining his users (and donors).

xCSxXenon, wrong. That message was ruder and more inconsiderate than 99% of the spam I've ever gotten. When the cure is worse than the disease. That rude message was a turning point for me, and one reason why I won't be donating again.

That the message appeared was not the biggest problem. That the message jumped to a conclusion that I'm a "delusional" "spammer" posting "crap" was the problem. It should have said, "Our algorithm detected that your post might have been automated" or something, and then given me a captcha or some way to remedy the issue if the algorithm was off the mark.

I don't get the sense here that such input is being considered. I also get the impression that people on this forum don't like reading much text (well, two people have told me as much). Which makes it a kind of a surreal place to find solutions to complicated problems, so I think that is my cue to take my leave!
