I've been using FFS for quite some time the following way: I have a NUC as a Roon server (local files music service), storage being an external drive. My main PC has a secondary HHD where all my music files reside and it's from here that that I add, delete or make changes to my library. I then mirror it to the external SSD on the NUC.
Never had a problem but recently changed both NUC and external drive. didn't touch anything else. I started having these error massages and stuff not being able to be deleted on the server's drive. I've been reading threads with similar problems and cant get it back to way it performed flawlessly.
Just an hour ago I tried synching and got 215 of these ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access is denied. [SetFileInformationByHandle(FileDispositionInfo)]. It seems I've sorted something out because they used to be over 1000. Can someone please help?
I would bet on permissions issues. Make sure the user(s) are set up correctly on the server, make sure the permissions on the filesystem are correct, make sure the users/permissions on the file server itself are correct
Well, RoonRock has no user thing, just a login to verify it's a paid account.
But I do have an issue with permissions through windows explorer. No matter what I do, the server folder shows as Read Only. If I try to change it, it scans the whole thing, says it is applying changes to folder and subfolders and everything stays just the same. In security, I gave it full access to everything and anyone that shows there but can't be applied to files and subfolders. Same thing, I change it and it reverts back to "This flder only".
