I use filesync to backup a mapped drive daily to a USB drive.
I have the comparison set to "File time and Size".
There are no filters set.
I have my Comparison set to update files from the left to the right.
With Comparison Difference set as:
Item exist on left side only: Copy new item to right
Left side is newer: Update Right Item
Right side is newer: Do Nothing
Item exist on right side only: Do Nothing
On occasion I get this error.
8:08:24 AM A The following items have unresolved conflicts and will not be synchronized:
Folder pair: W:\ <-> F:Company Data\GSE\Daily\W
Jardot, David & Kerry - 2001 Peninsula Road - Job Calculations
Jardot, David & Kerry - 2001 Peninsula Road - Job calculations: Cannot determine sync-direction:
The items have different names, but it's unknown which side was renamed.
Since I am only syncing in one direction, and since it knows there are different names, why can't it just update those names? I guess I could see it as an issue to change the folder name as that would require deletion of the folder and then updating the folder and everything in it.
What would work in this case is if there were a checkbox where I could tell it to ignore the change of the CASE (basically treat all names as uppercase [or lowercase]). Or maybe as a filter to ignore the case of the name.
Any suggestions are welcome.

FreeFileSync (FFS) considers an identical filename with different capitalization as un unresolved conflict, that needs to be resolve manually moving your mouse left and right over the conflict icon (the lighting symbol) mid between the left and right listing of the file at stake, and then selecting the proper sync action.
I am not aware of any possibility in FFS to ignore this, filter this or define a default action in these cases.

Plerry, Thanks for the reply.
I don't get the option of the lighting bolt because I am running this in Batch mode. So simply put it runs on schedule then presents the dialog with either being completed or with an error. When it errors I must go an fix these names changes manually.
So what you are saying is that I need to file this as a feature request?
