Hello,

I am a long term FFS user on Windows, and now that M$ are trying to get me to dispose of some perfectly good devices, I am looking at moving to Linux (I have a number of Linux varieties under review - this applies to ALL of them). I also have a number of Linux appliances in the home (NAS x2, TV Recorders, TVs, etc.).

FFS on Linux requires network shares to be premounted, whereas FFS on Windows can use UNC syntax for source and target systems.

Since Linux File Managers can successfully use Network Discovery to find and display resources (and then allow access, possibly needing a UID/PW), why is it not possible for FFS to use UNC Syntax for finding source or target systems, possibly using a temporary mount similar to what most file managers do?

With a lot of Windows 10 users potentially moving to Linux, this could be an advantageous move by FFS.
