NTFS on hdd causes error, Exfat works fine. +Drag&Drop not working anymore

Hi there,

my situation:
Data from my NAS server (X:) needs to be mirrored to a newly created folder on 30 TB SATA HDD (H:) for backup.
This worked fine before when I had the 30TB HDD formated to Exfat with 8mb cluster size (was standard size while formatting). However I discovered that this caused huge file sizes for small data. Like 600gb differences at 9TB total size.

This is why I formatted the 30TB hdd to NTFS with 64kb cluster size because there is so much data with just a few KB and I just need the HDD to backup my data. My main goal is to keep the sizes low, speed is not the main factor.

However this formatting now causes problems in Freefilesync.
"Cannot read permissions of "X:\_5 xxx.pdf".

ERROR_PRIVILEGE_NOT_HELD: Dem Client fehlt ein erforderliches Recht. [GetFileSecurity]"

See full issue attached. Clicking ignore won't copy the data, all data is affected. Clicking ignore will show the next file with the issue.

The weird thing is, that the data is on the NAS (X:) which is now affected by the NTFS format of the HDD (H:)

I tested the situation with EXFAT again where it works fine. NTFS with 64kb, 128kb and even 8mb cluster size didn't work in my tests. I would have no problem to use EXFAT, but the minimal cluster size is 2mb which will increase the thousands of kb data too much.

Is there any solution where I can use NTFS without any issues?

Unrelated to this, I got another problem from updating the version 14.4 to 14.5. I can't drag and drop folders into Freefilesync anymore. I have to open the folders manually and copy the paths.

I think FFS is trying to copy permissions to the NTFS location, but exFAT doesn't support permissions at all. In the FFS settings, did you enable "Copy DACL, SACL, Owner, Group"?

Drag and drop is working fine for me in 14.5, is it still broken after a restart?

1) Try disabling in Tools / Options the radio-button [x] Copy DACL, SACL, Owner, Group

2) You're launching FFS with Administrator privileges, and Drag and Drop doesn't work between apps launched with Administrator privileges and apps launched without Administrator privileges.
