Hi there,
I'm new to FFS. I just got a new RAID drive system and I'm syncing (backing up) my older HD to it. I selected 17,000 pictures that were not yet on the new RAID through FFS and used "update" for one way copy. They apparently copied with FFS so I deleted from the old HD, but they are all only 0 byte sized.
I'm 90% sure the files were larger before copy.
Help?
Large number of file "update" but now all files are 0 bytes

I would hope the files were larger than being empty.
Impossible to say what happened, but this is why verifying before deleting is so important.
Try copying data to the RAID manually and see if it works
