I have successfully been using FFS to synchronize two Dropbox folders. (One is a 'master' folder to which my colleagues have read-only access. The other is a working copy of the same folder, which two of my colleagues regularly update. Every 1-2 days I run a comparison of the folders, check that the differences make sense, and then synchronize.)
I am thinking about having FFS and Dropbox on an additional machine, so that I can perform the above function from home if necessary. Will this cause any problems with the comparison/sync process? For example, when comparing folders/files, does FFS take into account what changes *it* previously made? If so, does that mean that it would get confused by changes that were made by the other FFS?

Should be fine. Syncs are completely independent from the data being accessed, unless you are using a database, which places a sync.ffs_db file in each side. If you are using a database, that is also fine because FFS uses the db file in each location no matter what machine it is ran on.

Thank you - that's great news.
I have two more related questions:
1) Is there a way to export / copy the exact settings from one FFS installation to the other? In case it's relevant, the existing installation is on a Win10 machine, and the additional one will be on a Win11 machine.
2) How can I add another license to the same account (or another machine to the same license)? I can't seem to find a straightforward 'account' section or similar on the website.

1) Duplicate the GlobalSettings.xml file of the first machine to your second machine
2) If you hold an FFS Donation Edition, (and are entitled to use it) you can simply install the downloaded donation version installer on a second machine.
If you hold a Business Edition, you can probably best drop Zenju an E-mail. For his address see at the very bottom of the About FreeFileSync page.

Thanks, Plerry. (It's business edition so I'll email Zenju.)
