I would like to be able to filter a collection of music files and synchronize by music genre that is recorded in the MP3 or FLAC file. This would be to include only, for example, "Pop" or "Rock" files in the filter dialogue.

Is it possible to do that? The other mentions of "genre" in this forum don't seem to be directly applicable to this issue.

Thanks Richard

You can only filter on file name (or part thereof) and/or the folder path leading to files.
So if you prepend (or postpend) the part of the file-name (before the .mp3 extension) e.g. by _pop_ or _rock_, you can filter on those added characteristics.
Obviously, if you organize your music in folders by music genre e.g. in folders named Pop, respectively Rock, you can filter on those folder names.

FreeFileSync (FFS) can not filter on meta-tags added to files, which is the most common way to characterize files based on music genre.

Thanks Plerry and xCS.

I could, I suppose, use a utility to append the genre. Maybe Advanced Renamer will do that - I will check it out. But it would be a nuisance with 15,000 files (and I think I may be not nearly the record in that). However it is what it is.
I would think it would be a nice addition, to be able to filter by other methods than filename.
