I tried to test version control. I applied the “Timestamp (file)” parameter. During the first synchronization, I found two folders in the revision folder containing the previous unchanged files with the file extension YYYY-MM-DD hhmmss. So far, so good.
I then changed the original files again for synchronization and also deleted the two folders in the “Revision” folder.
Then I performed the FFS synchronization again. FFS saved the changed files correctly, but did not add the folder and the files stored in the revision folder, including the previously unchanged files as before, which I do not understand!

What did I do wrong or fail to understand?

You should not manually delete (or change) anything in the Versioning location, in your case apparently the Revisions folder.
FFS will not "restore" previous versions in/to the Versioning location that you manually deleted from your Versioning location.

In your Synchronization settings (F8) under "Limit file versions" you can select how many, and/or for how long previous versions are retained. FFS will automatically delete previous versions that no longer need to be retained, depending on your settings.

Thank you for your prompt response!
In the meantime, I have recreated the deleted folders in the “Revisions” folder, and everything is functioning as expected.
The duplicate post was unintentional. I have not been able to find a way to delete the post.
