ffs_gui files and OneDrive

Get help for specific problems

Most of the forum messages on FFS and OneDrive relate to wanting to sync to OneDrive. This message does not, directly. I am not a "computer professional". I have found FFS a wonderful file sync program and having set it all up a couple of years ago it works well. While trying to get information on OneDrive, Windows started setting OneDrive up for me and syncing some of my files. Next time I opened FFS, all the parameter files (I now know they're ffs_gui files) I had have vanished. I can set them all up again, I suppose, but they seem to now have moved onto my OneDrive, thanks to Windows. But where are they meant to be stored ? FFS allows you to specify your files, parameters etc. for syncing then I used to be able to specify a name for the backup and save it all for future use. I can't see this facility now. Either I've forgotten where it is (I'm getting "very forgetful" you know) or perhaps FFS has a problem with it's default location for the save being in the cloud ! Can I specify my own local location for the ffs_gui files ?
Can anybody help me to solve this problem in a way that doesn't risk me losing all my data? I'm not at all interested in backing up to OneDrive as a way of working. I only tried to find out about it because it promised that I could put files there in the cloud and access them easily from my phone and tablet (Android). It's all Windows fault !!!

You can store/save *.ffs_gui and *.ffs_batch sync configuration files in any location you have write access to.
Simply use the "Save as" icon or main menu File option in the FFS GUI, and select an appropriate location and name.
Along the same line, you can run saved *.ffs_gui or *.ffs_batch sync configurations from any accessible location.

Thanks Plerry. I think I've just about worked this out for myself now. But good to have confirmation that doing this will not cause me any more problems. But the FFS GUI screen does not now show a list of the available configurations in a list on the screen in the way it used to. Is there a way to reconfigure the GUI ?Ah, the tools meno has a "reset layout" option. Ah ! Should have looked more carefully. Thanks !

The FFS GUI will not show a list of available sync configurations (in its Configuration window, by default top-left), but rather the most recently run sync configurations.
That list will be populated as you run more different saved sync configurations.

You can open any saved sync configuration via the "Open" icon or main menu File / Open option in the FFS GUI, or by double-clicking a saved *.ffs_gui or *.ffs_batch sync configuration file in your file browser.
