Cannot write modification time on Samsung

I am synching libraries (music, photos, etc.) from my Windows 11 Laptop to my Samsung S26 phone using a USB cable and get "Cannot write modification time" for all files. I had no errors when doing this on my older android phone of a different brand and have found on this forum that this is a Samsung problem. When I buy the latest phone I would think Samsung would have fixed this by now. From this forum I see that this problem existed for years on older Samsung phones also. I saw some suggest to use Wi-Fi ftp, but I don't understand how to set that up and since I am using a USB cable may not apply. Question: Is there anyway to get my Samsung S26 to allow FreeFileSync to change the date/time on a file to be the same as in the original file it just copied?

Never worked, I just use file size only to compare. Since I only use FFS for pictures/videos from my phone, it doesn't matter because the filename is the date/time for 99% of my files. If I care enough, I can go back through them and modify the metadata based on the filename, but I just want them backed up so I haven't worried about it yet.

Hi,
Using a USB cable to an Android phone and I have a Samsung also is not very reliable.
I recommend installing an app from the Google Play app store that supports FTP and use FTP from ffs instead of USB.
Get wifi ftp server and your problems should go away.

Hi, Thank you John. I had several things to set up on this new phone so took a break from this FFS. But need to get this going now, so I downloaded "WiFi FTP Server" from the PlayStore. When I run this on the phone the status is:
WiFi status: Enabled
IP Address: 192.168.1.36
Network: <unknown ssid>
Server URL: ftp://192.168.1.36.2221
Userid: android
Password: android
Anonymous access: Enabled
Root folder: Custom folder
And below this is a QR code. Both the phone and the Windows11 computer are connected to the same network.
In the right pane in FFS (where phone files are) I left the Drag & Drop box blank and clicked on the cloud icon. In the new window I click on FTP, and tried server name I tried ftp://192.168.1.36:2221, as well as without the 2221 and without ftp://. Port is 21 and I have tried with and without username/password from above. However when I click on Browse for "Directory on server" I get the error "Cannot determine final path for "ftp://192.168.1.36:21...Cound not connect to server [curl_easy_perform].
Can you give me where I am going wrong? Is the unknown ssid under network on phone the problem? Do I need to use the QR code from WiFi FTP Server somewhere? In FFS, what should I enter for Server or IP address? Should I put in the Username and Password in wifi ftp server (android) or leave them blank? And in ffs and I browse for the "directory on server" should I get the path to folder I want to sync?

I did some more tests and when I run WiFi FTP Server on my Android Samsung S26+ I can go to the laptop Windows 11 File Explorer and type "ftp://192.168.1.36:2221:" in the address bar (to replace Home) I can view the folders on the phone. So the service is running properly, but my problem is with what is entered in FFS on the laptop. Please help with what I have wrong there. Thank you.

Knowing the WiFi FTP Server app on the Samsung phone was working correctly I did more tried more settings and have solved the problem. I will put the settings here in case someone else has the same problem:
In FFS you click on the cloud icon to the right of the "drag and drop" bar for the phone's directories. This opens the "Access Online Storage" window. In this window under server name, enter the IP address from WiFi FTP Server on the phone. In my case I entered 192.168.1.36 (no prefix or suffix). Then for Port, I entered 2221 (again from phone app). I left username and password blank and Encryption disabled. Then I could click on "Browse" under "Directory on server" and was able to see the phone directories so I could chose the one I want for each pair.
So problem solved! Thank you John for getting me in the right direction. I now can sync including date/time!
