I installed the free version (after making a donation) and I'm very satisfied with how it works, but I can't help noticing that the UI is quite outdated and honestly rather unappealing. Wouldn't it be about time to make the app skinnable?

Well, as an Italian, I feel I have a legal and moral obligation to defend aesthetics wherever I go.

Calling a Windows XP vibe "a good thing" physically hurts my design sensibilities—it's practically the software equivalent of ordering a cappuccino after dinner.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love how rock-solid and functional the app is. But we gave the world Da Vinci, Alfa Romeo, and tailored suits... surely our user interfaces can aim a bit higher than 2001 bevelled gray buttons. Nostalgia is fine, but a little modern elegance never hurt anyone.

I agree, although I'm not seeing beveled buttons. Maybe because I'm using the excellent new dark theme, of which I'm massively appreciative?

Now back to the Alfa Romeo (and the other beautiful cars that Italy produces). Please, please, please have Italy produce a good looking vehicle (preferably a convertible) with a reliable long-lasting engine that gets good mileage (fuel economy). I so much want to buy an Italian-styled car, but I have yet to find one with a reliable long-lasting engine that doesn't require a ton of expensive maintenance.

FFS is as fast as it is because it doesn't have a bunch of garbage in the code. Unlike many modern apps built on heavy web frameworks, FFS is written in raw, highly optimized C++. Its file-tree comparison algorithm operates in parallel across multi-threaded CPU cores. I'm a former UI dev and I am fine with how it looks because it's a tool. A fast tool. My Pinokio folder is almost 300gb with 570k files and FFS still doesn't choke out on it. I've donated to the project several times over the years.

FreeFileSync has a well designed UI that is not being weighted down by unnecessary gloss, making it easy to learn.

Functionality is always better than looks, and make no mistake, FreeFileSync gets the jobs done that I require it to do without having to look pretty.
