Feature Suggestion: Remote Scanning

First of all, thanks to the author(s) for such highly useful software. It makes things so much easier.

This is not a complaint. It's simply an idea. It may be completely wrong and I won't be offended if you tell me so.

We use FFS in a WAN setting. The scanning and synchronization takes a while over those slow links.

So, the goal is to speed up scanning and synchronization over networks. The proposed methods would be...

- Locally scan each computer and communicate only changes across the network.
- Compress data before sending across a network, then decompress on the other end.

These could be accomplished by writing a remote agent that communicates with FFS, or simply adding remote functionality into FFS itself (so multiple instances of FFS could talk to one another.)
