FreeFileSync is an excellent program to do complex (large) comparisons. These may take more time than is expected, which may lead for the user to need to pause the operation, for example to do an urgent copy operation which would take much longer if the heads have to spin back and forth to simultaneously serve two programs, or to not let a temporary unavailability of one of the file sets result in a waste of the lengthy comparison work done so far.
The introduction of a Pause button in the Windows 8/Windows Server 2012 file operation dialogs further nurtured the expectation and habit to be able to pause long operations if needed.
I myself am writing this right now because I would badly need to pause a long comparison procedure.
From a previous feature request I see that there is a workaround, but this is neither obvious to the user, nor as "sticky" as a Pause button would be (as soon as you click somewhere outside the menu, operations resume).
Thanks if this can be considered.
Possible to give Pause button a second chance?
