I notice that only when using Variable Drive Letters, it causes some brief activity on the internal floppy disk (signified by the floppy drive sound and the floppy disk LED lighting up temporarily) - even though none of the Variable Drive Letters I am using are related to the floppy drive!
I really like the Variable Drive Letters feature, but I wondered if there was any way to prevent this unwanted floppy disk activity?
I'm using FreeFileSync 6.2 on XP (portable version).

Could this be when FFS enumerates all the available drives? i.e. When there is a Variable Name specified and it checks across all available drives to see which drive actually has this volume name?

Yes, the floppy disk activity is due to the use of "[reference by volume name]" syntax. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a simple way to exclude floppy disks from this search.

Thanks for clarifying Zenju.
