Will the old bat files work with the new version? In other words, I created
bat files in version 5.3, but will they work in version 5.4, as is?

Probably not. Error codes are now positive while they were negative in earlier
versions. Since batch "errorlevel" models less-equal, there bat file may need
to be adapted. The new codes are documented in the help file.
