Hello,

Looking at FreeFileSync from portable usage perspective, it seems to me that
it is a bad choice to force users to use either x86 or x64 version. This leads
to situation where I have x64 FreeFileSync on my USB drive, and then I plug
this drive into x86 machine and 'no luck'.

I'm proposing more user friendly approach where FreeFileSync exists only in
one version, but it adapts itself to run in x86 or x64 mode depending on what
underlaying OS is used. It could as well be done with some kind of launcher
which would detect OS and then start appropriate version of FreeFileSync.

Thanks.
Cheers!

How do I install a portable version of FreeFileSynch that has a launcher that
automatically picks x86 and x64?

I read this comment in the tracker but I can't figure out how to install a
portable auto-x86/x64 version and I can't find any post-3.16 betas on the
site.

Am I misunderstanding?

There have been historical reasons for this decision that are now no longer
valid. Therefore I've added a launcher that selects 32 or 64 bit executable
dependent on current OS. Now I'm waiting for complaints about "FFS
installation size too large" ;)

Ahh, I see. I look forward to 3.17. And, even if the size increases it's well
worth it. I already install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions so it can work on
all my old and new computers. The larger 3.17 combo version will be very nice.
