FreeFileSync 7.8/7.9: Does not work any more under Win 10

Dear FreeFileSync forum,

Since I updated to v. 7.9, FreeFileSync doesn't work any more under Win 10 (before, it worked fine!):
When I click on "Start Sync", FFS says "Compare... (Vergleiche...)", but even when waiting several minutes, nothing happens, the program doen't react to user input, it freezes.
I turned back to v. 7.8, but the problem persists.

The source and target folders (the latter ones on a small NAS locally connected to the source computer via LAN) are all available. I deleted all FFS files in the source and target folders...: the same problem!

Can anyone give me a hint how to get the program work again?

You can send me a Process Explorer dump file then I can tell what FFS was doing during the hang.
