Won't rename rename folders because of case

Is there a way to get FFS to rename the folder by case?
I'm having issues where it cannot rename the folder because the name of the folder already exists. Yes, it does, but its a different case.

I.E. Original Source C:\LOWERCASE won't change to C:\LowerCase because FFS detects it as the same folder and throws an error.

Any way to get it to change the case of the folder name? I cleaned up a bunch of folders in the source and I'd like the destination to reflect these changes.

If you are running this under Windows or using the CIFS/SMB protocol,
it is the OS/protocol that does not distinguish case in file- or path-names,
and e.g. considers "LOWERCASE" to be the same as "LowerCase".

However, on initial copy (if the file or path does not yet exist on the dest-side)
it will preserve the case in file- and path-names.

Yes, I have observed that behavior.

My question is, how can I get it to change the case of the existing destination folders?

FreeFileSync shouldn't have any issues dealing with differences in case. What error are you seeing in particular and what is your setup?

ok...
The error its displaying is Can't move <folder> when <FOLDER> already exists.

The only difference is the case of FOLDER.

I know the problem is that it is detecting the folder as the same because windows does not see any difference because Windows is not case sensitive.

Again.. Is there a way to get FreeFileSync to change the case of the folder name when that is the only difference?

Can you provide some more info, e.g. screenshots or some steps to reproduce the problem to see what you are doing? Again, FreeFileSync shouldn't have issues with case-sensitivity so I'd like to investigate what your scenario is.

Im doing a mirror to a share on a freeNAS.

The scan shows differences in the folders. Below is part of the log file.

This sounds more like a limitation of the "N:\" device rather than an issue with FreeFileSync. Are you able to change case on this device manually?

Alright, then. Maybe there is something that can be done to support this with FreeFileSync:
First start up a Process Monitor Trace with default settings, then manually rename "N:\FTP\Music\A-B\BILL and TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY" to "N:\FTP\Music\A-B\Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" via explorer and stop the trace. Then send the pml file to my email for analysis.
