libpng error version PNG12_0 not found

Hi there, I use FreeFileSync on Debian 64-bit and after a system update I now run into the following error:

./FreeFileSync: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpng12.so.0: version `PNG12_0' not found (required by ./FreeFileSync)

I checked, and libpng12.so.0 points eventually to libpng16.so.16.21.0. Debian appears to only provide a true libpng12 for 32 bit legacy, not 64 bit.
It seems to me the best would be if FreeFileSync would not have a hard PNG12 requirement. The rest of Debian seems to have moved on years ago. Is this a possibility?
