Newest update 8.3 crashes attempting to install

I have version 8.2 on a Windows 10 machine and it works fine. I was prompted to update to 8.3 and when I try to do that I find it crashes. What happened is that I downloaded the version 8.3 for Windows and that downloaded fine.Then I executed the install program and it comes up with the user agreement. At this point if I just move the mouse cursor to check the agreement box, once the mouse hovers over the install prompt, I get a "Setup/Uninstall has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." The only choice is to close the program. Anyone have a solution?

Similar problem, different error: the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
The only option is "close" then the installer disappears from my desktop.

A fix is currently in the making and hopefully will be ready soon.

Unfortunately this second version also doesn't work for me. The error is still the same; the installer crashes directly after launching:

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, German. I'm also attaching the corresponding eventvwr entry, but I doubt that it contains any helpful information. It's zipped because it's not possible to upload a .evtx file.

UPDATE: The installation worked after I temporarily disabled BitDefender. It identified the setup.exe as infected by the virus "Gen:Variant.Adware.DealPly.52". Although the installation worked now, this really doesn't inspire much confidence :-)

Same problem. FFS8.3 crashes at install. Running on Windows 10 Home. First, the 8.1 previous version stopped working, than 8.3 crashed at install, preventing fixing the problem. Disabling BitDefender did not correct the problem.
