I am using FFS simply as a mirror backup. I have set it up so it runs a batch job every night. So far that runs, but there is something that seems to be incorrect:
When I create a file on the source C: drive, it gets backed up OK. However, when I delete a file on the source C: drive, that file does not get deleted on the target backup location.
I don't really want to keep old files that I have deleted from the source C: drive. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks.
Files deleted on source are not deleted on backup target

It sounds like for Synchronization Settings (F8), you have selected the "Update" sync variant
rather than the "Mirror" variant.
Or, if you use the "Custom" variant, for "Items exists on right side only" you have selected
"Do nothing", rather than "Delete right item".

No, I checked all that before I posted the problem description, to be sure that I have it set to "Mirror". I also deleted the batch job and re-created it following the instructions provided in the application. It still does the same thing. IT could be that I didn't follow the instructions correctly, but I double-checked to be sure I did it correctly. I also checked to be sure that the setting is correct when the "Item exists on right side only" - to be sure it's set to "Delete right item". But it doesn't get deleted. So I'm stumped.

Skip it. I installed SyncBack and it works just fine. So I'm uninstalling FFS.

I'm having the same problem; mirroring a folder from one USB drive to another using a Vista machine. Some files it pops up saying it cannot delete on the target drive. I get an error message that it's unable to move file to recycle bin. "HRESULT: 0x80270021, Facilty: User Shell"
Why is Vista refusing to obey the instructions of FFS?

Windows supports its Recycle Bin only for local disks, not for network shares or USB sticks. Why is Vista refusing to obey the instructions of FFS?Barrister

I just figured it out; it's the "User Access Control" of vista causing the problem. I turned it off and now FFS deletes files with no problem.

For the record: 0x80270021 = COPYENGINE_E_ACCESS_DENIED_SRC = "Security problem on source"
