MacOS: How to end FreeFileSync complete?

If i start FreeFileSync on my iMac. Sometimes i get the message: "Do you want to download a new version?".
Ok, i download the new version and exit FreeFileSync.

But when i want to overwrite the old file with the new file, i get the message: "i have to close the FreeFileSync".

I closed it before!!! How to end FreeFileSync complete, so that i overwrite the program file?
My only way currently is, to restart my iMac.

Is there an other way???
