Hello everybody,
FreeFileSync is an amazing tool and it's great to see how actively it is maintained. Yet, frequent updates also bring the burden of constantly having to update the program (or skipping the update message and sticking with on old version), which is actually quite annoying for me.
An auto-update option would be nice, but as a developer, i know that such a feature can actually be quite tricky to implement.
That brings me to my suggestion:
Win32 applications like FreeFileSync can now be published in the Windows Store (on Windows 10), by using the Desktop App Converter provided by Microsoft. Applications on the Store get auto-updated by default.
I'd suggest to bring FreeFileSync to the Windows Store, to remove the burden of manual updates.
The installer and thus any sponsoring through bundled software won't be viable there, so offering it at a price (maybe 2-3$) on the Store while keeping the free version available on this website seems like a nice balance to make the extra work worthwhile.
What do you think?
Windows Store as auto update solution?
