Correction:
I first compared d:\....pictures to d:\....videos and the result was that
the folders named "folder A" in each of these locations were equal.
Just now compared d:'''\pictures\folder A" to "....\videos\folder A" -
that is only the two folders in question rather than all folders in
\pictures and \videos - and freefilesync now says they are not equal and
found the 400MB of siles in the \videos\folder A !!
So, whn comparing multiple folders it failed to see that the two same named
folders are actually differing in size by a huge amount and instaed called
them equal. Wow......????
-------------------------------------------------------
On an external drive on windows pc I have two folders and I was about to
delete one as freefilesync said they were equal. When I opened them, I
found one was an empty folder and one had 400MB of photos and video files!
d:....\pictures\folder A (actually an empty folder)
d:....\videos\folder A (actually lots of files in folder)
freefilesync listed these as equal using "Compare" and using
name/modification date setting.
Of course, now I am wondering how many folders I deleted from PC and
actually lost pictures/documents etc.
Also, how now can I be sure that the two drives I back my pc onto actually
have the files I intended. As I delete folders from PC - freefilesync says
the folders are identical on backup drives - how many actually were not
equal? Can never know now as long deleted from PC.
Obviously way to fatal a problem for freefilesync, so anyone else have
freefilesync say "folders are equal" for two same name folders in different
locations and one folder is actually empty while the other actually has
lots of files?
CORRECTION: Folders not identical, FFS says they are
