Hello together,
I try to disable the search for updates for FreeFileSync in our company.
I found this topic:
viewtopic.php?t=1557
It describes to deploy a modified GlobalSettings.xml with the program.
So I installed FreeFileSync (8.4 at this time), disabled automatic updates, and deployed this GlobelSettings.xml with every installation.
The relevant entry in the GlobalSettings.xml seemed to be:
<LastOnlineCheck>42110</LastOnlineCheck>
<LastOnlineVersion>8.4</LastOnlineVersion>
<LastOnlineChanges/>
This worked, the deployed installations didn't seem to search for an update. However, now the search for update seems to be active again. I installed FreeFileSync 8.4. with the modified GlobalSettings.xml recently, and a window pops up saying that version 8.6 is available.
Does someone know if an entry can be made in the GlobalSettings.xml to disable automatic update permanently? Our users are not able to make this update themself.
Thank you.
Kind regards

I agree - a little disappointing. I'm running version 8.5. It has menu option to un-tick "Check automatically once a week", (under "Help" menu). Appears to set <LastOnlineCheck>35539</LastOnlineCheck> in GlobalSettings.xml.
I set computer date back a few months started FFS and the update message reappeared! If anyone knows a solution i'd also like to know. If it's hard coded into FFS then perhaps Zenju might be persuaded to enhance program.
