FFS has run without issues in the past, but now fails (not sure whether an update to FFS or Win10 caused the issue). I have not changed any file or directory permissions in the mean time on either the local or remote machine.
I get many errors, a sample of which is here:
13:08:28 Warning Cannot set directory lock for "\\Paulinescomp\d\Malcolm".
Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Malcolm\sync.ffs_lock".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:08:28 Warning Cannot set directory lock for "\\Paulinescomp\d\Outlook".
Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Outlook\sync.ffs_lock".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:08:28 Warning Cannot set directory lock for "\\Paulinescomp\d\Pauline".
Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Pauline\sync.ffs_lock".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:08:41 Error Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Outlook\sync.38ef.ffs_tmp".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:08:52 Error Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Malcolm\Documents\Excel\Bank Standing Orders.162f.ffs_tmp".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:08:55 Error Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Malcolm\Documents\Excel\Cheque Book Entries.0021.ffs_tmp".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:09:12 Error Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Malcolm\Documents\Fiddle and Music Scores\C33 Dancing Reels.79ad.ffs_tmp".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
13:09:13 Error Cannot write file "\\Paulinescomp\d\Malcolm\Documents\Fiddle and Music Scores\C49 Scottish Collection.ec7d.ffs_tmp".
Error Code 5: Access is denied. [CreateFile]
and so it goes on, thousands of files.
The errors are referring to the remove pc, "Paulinescomp"
I have the copy locked files option set, and have run FFS as administrator.
Hopefully the solution is straightforward, if someone can advise please.
FFS no longer funcions - directory lock etc.

Ah, found the problem. Not sure why, but I'd lost the configuration of my "homegroup" in Windows 10......no idea why, but at least FFS is now working again!

More than one year later but for anyone reading this, I solved it by following the path described in the error, slightly different "C\:program files(x86)\freefilesync" and right-clicked the folder. Gave "full control "to all users and immediately ran a batch file which I created before for my backups, worked flawlessly and with no error code 5 no more.
