I (probably stupidly) formatted a new 8TB backup drive as the new APFS format that comes with MacOS High Sierra, and have already done a huge amount of data transfer there I don't want to repeat due to reformatting :)
It appears APFS isn't supported yet in FFS. In which case, I'd like to request it.
Double checked read/write & ownership permissions. I'm getting this error for each item; it can't delete or add items.
11:26:56 Error Cannot delete file "/Volumes/.../.AppleDouble/.Parent::EA::com.apple.quarantine".
Error Code 1: Operation not permitted [unlink]
and
11:31:33 Error Cannot read file "/Volumes/.../
Error Code 5: Input/output error [read]
Thanks for any info or updates!

Figured it out for anyone interested -- it wasn't an APFS issue, APFS seems to be supported in FFS. I was having problems with hidden .AppleDouble files. FFS doesn't seem to like these. They're created by MacOS on some external drives -- seems to be related to metadata storage (happens more on NAS drives, even though mine isn't NAS).
There are scripts to get rid of these, but I just added a filter in FFS *.AppleDouble* and I'm good now.
