I want to merge my home folder into a backup of my old home folder. I don't want to delete files that aren't in the new one, I just want to add newer and new files into the backup. I selected Custom and clicked the buttons so that I have 2 right arrows, a lightning bolt and 2 minus signs: [->] [->] [/] [-] [-]
Yet during the synchronize, it kept saying "Deleting ...." Why?? How can I make it stop that?
I clicked 'Do Nothing' so why is it deleting files?

Deleting the old file before coping over the new file is a step in the overwrite algorithm.
Instead of "deleting file" FFS could be set up to use versioning, in which case it's helpful to see why the simple overwrite is taking so long (e.g. because the versioning target is on a slow network)
