Installation of Version 10 terminates with severe errors

Hello,

I tried to install Version 10. But that is not possible. I get error messages, that several files can't be moved or renamed. I tried an uninstall, but several files were not removed from the disk. According to the error message I do not have the privileges to delete the file although I'm logged in as administrator (Windows, Office 365). I would need the access rights of a "BUILTIN/Administrators".

Any idea what is the root cause for this strange behaviour?

Same experience here when trying to install 10.0 over 8.3 (Windows 10). No matter how I try to rename, with or without 8.3 installed, as user or as administrator. 10.0 does not install on one particular machine. On two other Win-10 machines it installs fine over 8.3 (as user).

Any remedy?

I don't have the troubling machine near me right now, but from memory:
If 8.3 is installed, everything looks fine. The install ends telling me that install succeded. But only 8.3 is there.
If 8.3 is not installed, the install ends with a message telling that FreeFileSync directory can not be created, due to such a directory is already present - which it is not.

What is your antivirus?
The Windows version?

I've followed the update link from 9.8 - it downloaded 10.1, *said* it had installed it, but when I started FFS it was still 9.8 - I've even tried to install to a different path, again it claims to have completed the installation, but the new folder is not created and nothing is updated.
