My last post went unnoticed and the detections have gotten worse since then. Defender detects it and so do many others when running the freefilesync.exe portable through VirusTotal.com. A few detections could be brushed off as false positives, but 22 hits is a lot. Does anybody have and insight as to what the issue is here? Who knows where our data is being sent at this point. I ran the 32-bit as well and it only found three detections, and found no issues with the 64-bit version. The executables for the installed version come up clean as well. Defender goes nuts every time I plug my USB drive in.

I have no idea what you've checked, but here are the results of the latest FFS 10.13:

FreeFileSync_x64.exe (0/71)

FreeFileSync_Win32.exe (0/72)

PS: The files for portable Donation Edition and standard version are identical.

Thank you for the info, that led me on a journey to figure out why my executables were different sizes between the portable and standard version. I determined the cause, PortableApps. Since it resides in the same location, it was included in the compression causing attributes to change. Even fresh downloads would still detects since they were on the USB drive, thus being compressed. Granted, the real cause is my own mistakes, but I do greatly appreciate your quick and helpful info!
