I would like to use the versioning feature for deleted files only (not for updated files).
Is there any way to do this?

This seems a bit remarkable, but if that's what you really want:
You can define two separate syncs, select the Custom sync variant and define a sync for deleted files only using Versioning, and a second sync for updating files only without using Versioning.
Both these syncs would use the same left-right base folder pair.
Similarly, you can define a single sync using two left-right folder pairs.
These two left-right pairs would (again) use the same base folder pairs, and would use local sync setting (local to the specific left-right pair). As described above, the first pair would use a Custom sync variant and define a sync for deleted files only using Versioning, and the second pair a Custom sync variant for updating files only without using Versioning.
