Why does RealTime Sync not work with Google Drive?

It appears, from reading other posts, that RealTimeSync does not work with Google Drive <--> local disk, due to a protocol not being supporting by Google via their API. That seems odd since Google's own Backup & Sync app does offer realtime sync... "Boo" to Google if their app has access to functionality that 3rd parties like FFS don't.
