Subject: A simply way to Exclude / ignore all folders when you compare 2
directories?

Hi
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have vigorously spent over a day
trying to find one simple solution to my problem
with no success & only left with a feeling like my eyes were going to fall out
of there socket :/

my question is how would I get the program from ignoring all folders in the
compare process?

Example.
Root Folder 1
File A
File B

Root Folder 2
a folder with File A & B inside

both Root folders have the identical files which are File A & File B but the
program says both the Root Folders don't have the identical files, which they
do?

if you are unsure what I'm trying to say please let me know and ill try and
re-explain as I know I suck at giving examples.

P.S.
If this is not possible and if anyone might know of a alternative software out
there that does this please let me know, even a Paid application I would be
extremely grateful :)
thanks...

So you have the following situation:

Folder1\File A
Folder1\File B

Folder2\subdir\File A
Folder2\subdir\File B

FFS doesn't ignore "hierarchical" differences, since...uhm... those are the
kind of things FFS is supposed to sync. I'm not sure if there is other
software that ignores those differences, except for duplicate finders. Maybe
your requirement can be solved by FFS, but I would first need to understand
what you are trying to achieve (and why).

SOLVED!

I would first like to say that I'm sorry that I didn't get back earlier as I
had internet and then! modem issues arise and since I'm the "tech guy" in the
house I had to resolve the problems :/... I wish I was making this up as it
was a pain to deal with.

the second thing I would like to say is that I have found a proprietary file
comparison application that solves my problem

The problem I had with a lot of duplicate finders (that I tried) were to
"destructive" which you could only delete or view the duplicated files and
there wasn't a way I could view or copy the unique files or compare the files
side by side like SSF does, which I must say is well laid out

"what you are trying to achieve (and why)."
I'm comparing a few family folders with other duplicated folders as there are
some unique files amongst them
so I thought I would be able to ignore the folder hierarchy via the filter
somehow and then sync only the unique files over

lastly thanks! for the support
