Deleting Old Source Files

I’m not clear about how to delete outdated files (in this case, catalogues I no longer need to back up from the earlier version of Lightroom). V10 of Lightroom changed its format, so it creates a new catalogue with “V10” in its name.
Say the old file name is X.lrcat and I have backed it up previously to a USB drive.
I now want to delete X.lrcat from my “Lightroom” drive (the source drive). This file, by the way, is about 2.5GB.
It’s been my experience that FFS issues an error message when it detects a large discrepancy between its lists of source and backup files, and asks if you want to cancel a backup operation.

Can I just ignore this and proceed? What is the disposition of a backup file for FFS if you delete the source copy e.g. will FFS also delete its backup copy?

Thanks for any help.

Considering FFS is a sync tool, it will most likely delete it off the backup if you delete it off the source. You should look at the different sync methods as they will tell you exactly what will happen for any scenario.
