Could i tweak FF to identify duplicate files in ONE folder?

Nope! FFS is a sync tool, not a duplicate finder.
It will only compare between the left and right base location, and only compare identically named files in the identical (sub)folder tree position relative to the left and right base location.
For finding duplicates (even in the same folder) you need to use another tool.
