Hi,
I want any prog that copy pastes anything to do a verification.
I read:-
Lady Fitzgerald
Offically, there is no way to verify a file has copied correctly but there is an unofficial "hack". Just follow the below steps:

my address for the steps to 3 is C:\Users\DBenz\AppData\Roaming\FreeFileSync

1. Go to AppData in the User folder.

2. Open the Roaming folder.

3. Open the FreeFileSync folder.

4. Click on GlobalSettings.xml

5. Look for the line VerifyCopiedFiles Enabled and change false to true.

6. Save when closing.

It may be necessary to repeat the above steps several times to get the setting to “stick”. Once it "sticks", you will not need to repeat this ever again; it will automatically verify copied files everytime.

Be aware this "hack" will double the amount of time needed to run FFS.

I do this, my first use sees a copy made but I dont see the graph run again for a check, check the xml, its still set to true., so not sure what she is saying about repeat the steps to make it stick.

What do I have to do ?

Cheers

DBenz.

I'm pretty confident that FFS only verifies changed files, not the whole directory. Unless I am misunderstanding

Hi,
how do I set it to verify the copying it does ?
I use Teracopy for copy paste, which verifies but I need sync and compare etc.

It does it during the sync. It does not run a whole sync, then the verify.

Lady Fitzgerald may call it a "hack", but it simply is a feature available in FreeFileSync. See here (VerifyCopiedFiles).
But make sure to read the full section.

Hi, so having altered the xml to true with FreeFileSync NOT RUNNING OR EVEN OPEN. that should be enough for it to verify thereafter. When she said repeat the steps to make it stick thats what worried me. So a red herring, it will do it thereafter.
