I can't seem to find any information about this error, and yet I see multiple forum posts about similar situations. Unfortunately, I can't find one that resolves the problem.

This is my very first time trying this software. I'm running Windows 10 version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.804) and I followed the instructions. It says to select the file areas I want to back up, then click "compare," then click "synchronize." As soon as I set up the directory locations I want backed up along with their corresponding destinations, I then click "compare," and immediately get the following error:
Cannot set directory locks for the following folders:

Cannot write file "C:\Users\sync.ffs_lock".
ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED: Access is denied.
[CreateFile]
Why does this happen?

I tried ignoring the error, but then a series of other similar "access denied" errors pop up. There is no information in the FAQ's about this issue.

You may need to run as admin because the 'users' folder doesn't have full access from even an user in the administrator group. You can give yourself those privileges or run FFS as admin

Thanks --I'll give that a go.
