Synchronization starts every few minutes

On the Mac I've been using the documented method of using Automator and Calendar to start a sync every night. This has worked great for a number of years. Recently, syncing has started happening every few minutes and I can find no reason why. I recently had a drive disconnect so I woke up to hundreds of FreeFileSync failed sync dialogs and had to just restart. I checked the calendar and it's just scheduled for 2am every day. I also made sure RealTimeSync is not running. Any ideas what might cause this?
