Sync Maximum Versioning Date Folder

I seem to be having a problem with maximum for Sync versioning. I have date folder with 10 maximum. However, I have 'umteen' folders. Does the maximum limit the number of dated folders?

Maximum limits the number of versions, "Last x days" is the only versioning option based on dates

Ok, bad terminology. I suppose every sync creates as folder with a date. Is this a version? If true why do I have more than max versions.

You probably don't. You may have 5 versions of fileabc.txt that are from a month ago, but since there are only 5 versions, it hasn't hit the max yet. I'm not sure if FFS removes empty version folders once they end up being emptied by the set restrictions. If this makes sense and is the case, change it to "Last x days" and set it to 10
