Is there any way I can prove I donated so that I can still receive auto updates? TIA

The dev is active in these forums so he should stumble across this pretty quick.
Since the payment went through, you should have received an email with the donation details and the links to download it. That should come through no matter what happened to your machine, check spam folder

I don't receive email on my windows box - only on my linux machine. Email there is lou.gregory42@gmail.com
