I recently performed a SYNC as I've done many times. The sync appeared to work as it always has, but when I tried to access my files, most files were no longer on EITHER drive that I synced.
After some searching, I found many of the folders and files in a folder that was created in the Recycle Bin named "b6b7.ffs_tmp". Unfortunately, not all of my files are in this folder and I cannot find them on my PC or my portable hard drive where I sync files to.
I do not understand why this happened. Please help.

That data must have been deleted/removed from the source and the sync then deleted them on the destination. Luckily your settings are configured to delete data from the target and put it into the Recycle Bin instead of permanently deleting them. Look into what deleted the data from the source

Thanks for the feedback.
I understand what you are saying about the data being removed from the source, but I can't believe that is what happened, since everything looked normal after running the COMPARE function on FFS.
I was able to recover a significant number of data files from the recycle bin, but not all. Since the settings are to put deleted files into the Recycle Bin, why are some files still missing?

Let's assume you are correct about the data being deleted from the source, what event(s) would have deleted them? I have no idea how to determine why they were deleted.

That is definitely what happened, couldn't tell you what caused it without being there though. Some files may be missing because not everything supports being sent to Recycle Bin, like large files or files from removable devices
