Synced files found not equal when compared by file content

Every month I compare by File Content the backup files which have just been synced by File Time & Size to check that the files are being copied correctly. Sometimes (but not frequently), I find a file which is not the same as the original file from which it was coped. What are possible reasons for this occurence.

Could one of the reasons be that some bytes of the file are being copied incorrectly due to a hard disk fault.

Unlikely. Check the smart data of course, but it's more likely something is installed and it interacting with those files causing the changes. Would need more info on files, file types, locations, etc

For instance, a media player may go out & add a tag to mp3 file...
Pick 2 small files, run a file comparison program on the two & see if shows anything of interest.
(Maybe WinMerge if they're text files or the File Comparator in Salamander if binary (or text). [Both are Windows programs.])
